After the shortest day of the year, the sun returns, and with the lengthening of the days comes the revival of light and hope. Though this idea is currently more relevant to the northern hemisphere, New Year's celebrations are a time for renewed hope and optimistic resolutions. With these ideas in mind, we're asking you to create a piece that incorporates at least three of the following five objects or ideas:
1. tulips
2. a sunrise
3. the color green
4. a promise
5. a clock
Your submission can fit into any category - nonfiction, fanfiction, original fiction, poetry, art, or even a combination of the five. The normal submission guidelines apply, with a slight relaxation of the borders between departments. Your piece must include three of the above objects or ideas; by "include" we mean mention, describe, allude to, use as a major theme...as long as it's there and reasonably noticeable, it counts.
Send all submissions to the relevant department, but please note in your email that your piece is a challenge entry. Good luck!
