The Midwinter Challenge

This challenge runs from the Autumnal Equinox to Midwinter (December 22)
Icefall is a quarterly fanzine, and our publication dates fall on equinoxes and solstices: the days when there is the most sunlight, or the most night, or a perfectly equal balance of both. In Tortall, Midwinter is the time to celebrate the return of the sun; it is the darkest time of the year, so from then on, it can only get lighter.

This challenge is for all creative endeavours. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to draw inspiration from either the picture or the quoted passage with us below. You can include them directly in your art, writing, or poetry, or let your imagination run with it, and only use them as inspirations. Then, when you're done, come back to the Icefall forum and show us! We'll put our favourites in the Midwinter issue.

The Picture:

The Quote:
Then these four knights departed and came to the barge and went in; and there they found the fairest corpse lying in a rich bed, and a poor man sitting in the boatman's seat, and no word would he speak. So these four knights returned to the king again, and told him what they found.

Have fun!
