What a PG-13 Chat Actually Means
by Kaet

The following are guidelines on what the mentors and roleplay heads consider to be PG-13.

Acceptable

  • The words "piss," "shit," "damn," "bitch," "slut," "dick," "whore," "prick," "hooker," "jerk," "ass," "goddamn," and "asshole."
  • Talking about sex in vague or general slang terms.
  • Most innuendoes.
  • Coupley actions--snuggling, standing-up cuddliness, you name it. We're all about the fluff.
  • Kissing, making out, and above-waist above-clothes groping. Keep in mind that your character may get yelled at in the event that this is going on. Also it's the middle of an Inn in Corus; could you be more unromantic?
  • Brawling, punching, kicking, stabbing, hitting people with blunt objects, trying to set someone on fire. Violence that does not include the insides of people (except for stabbing). Deaths in the main room are generally acceptable as long as they are not extended, and as long as everyone in the room is okay with violence. Obviously, the PM of the dying character needs to agree as well.
Unacceptable
  • The words "c-nt," "c-ck," "f-ggot," "d-ke" and "f-ck" are unacceptable. If your character goes on a rant, it is acceptable to leave the first occurance of these words uncensored to get the real feel of the rage, but after that, they need to be censored. Be warned that you're likely to get jumped on by at least one mentor for using any of these words uncensored.
  • Talking about sex explicitly, especially acts that are not generally accepted, like fetishes or unusual acts.
  • Explicit innuendoes.
  • Hardcore coupleyness--groping, grinding, making-out-ness to the point of distracting other people. Any removal of clothing or between-the-legs touching and everything beyond that. In the case of prostitutes, brushing against critical areas is acceptable in public actions, but if your character is going to go a little farther--which can happen in an Inn like this--make a vague action in public and PM the rest of the action to the other PM so he or she can react appropriately.
  • Torture, sexual assault, rape, throat-cutting, amputation, drawn out violent acts, extended and gory death scenes.
Frankly, we're generally more lenient than this--most of us know each other, and can gauge the amount that these things would upset other people. However, if you are at all unsure about what is acceptable, look back here or don't say it. These guidelines are also good ones for OOC talk and if anything that should be kept even cleaner than IC posts.

We would also like to point out that it is considered inappropriate for those under the legal age of consent (usually 16) to be involved in any graphic sexual or violent roleplays, even when they occur in private and serious action may be taken if the mentors or roleplay heads discover that this is taking place. All members have the right to refuse to play out anything that they are uncomfortable with and instead to leave it to the imagination.

At any time, anyone in the chat has the right to ask for more censoring or a switch to PMs or a private room. We want no one to be uncomfortable.
