Applying

By now you've decided to apply. Maybe you've got a character idea in mind already, and maybe you don't. Maybe you're looking for inspiration. Before you can jump straight to the good stuff, though, you need to learn how the process works.

Got all that? Good! Now you can get to the fun stuff: writing your character.

And now, we have all sorts of tutorials to help you write your character. Don't be overwhelmed by how many of them there are--you shouldn't need all of them.

  • Filling In the Character Sheet. This tutorial is just useful for everything. No matter what, we recommend you at least look it over. Apart from giving helpful hints and ideas, the major sections come complete with a list of Red Flags--things you don't want to put into your profile, and how to change them.
  • Roleplay Settings. This is less of a tutorial and more something that will tell you about the two different locations in which we roleplay: The Divine Realms Inn II and the Little Court. Remember, applications for the Little Court are currently closed.
  • The Rogue. This is very important to read if you plan to apply with a rogue character, or a character who will be joining the Rogue. It might even be useful even if you're applying with a plain old inngoer.
  • Writing the Personality. If you're struggling with your character's Personality section, this tutorial will do you a world of good. Remember that we like the Personality section to be the longest and most fully developed, so if you're coming up at one paragraph or less, you'll want to read this anyway.
  • Jobs and Employment. This is less of a tutorial and more of a laundry list of possible jobs for your character to have. The first list is legal jobs, the second illegal jobs, and you'll learn a bit about apprenticeships.
  • Playing a Healer. As the name states, this tutorial will help you loads if you're applying to the roleplay with a healer character.
  • How to Write Gifted Mages. This tutorial will give you everything you need to know for writing a character who has the Gift. Note: this tutorial does not deal with the Sight.
  • Playing a Noble. Useful if you plan on roleplaying in the Little Court once you're accepted. Please remember that applications for the Little Court are currently closed.
  • Geography and Cultures. Here, you'll find a list of every tutorial we've written to help you write foreign characters. The list is incomplete; if you'd like to make a character from a country that has no tutorial and you aren't sure where to begin, feel free to ask around on the forum.

Once you've written your character to your satisfaction, follow the steps under How to Join. Post your application to the forum, sit back, and wait. But you're not quite done here, yet. Moving on . . .
